In the world of digital communication, names have become more important than ever. They help us to identify and connect with others and often serve as our first impression in the virtual realm. There is no exception with Ready.

Let’s discover all the names in Ready and their roles in making Ready a secure and convenient app for everyone below.

Names in Ready, Explained

In Ready, there are three types of names that users can utilize: display names, usernames, and nicknames. Whether you want to maintain your privacy, easily identify your contacts, or simply have fun with nicknames, Ready has you covered.

Display Name

Generally, display names are the names displayed on the profile of Ready users. There are two types of display names in Ready, including:

  • Default chat name

As you may all know, Ready is a security-focused app built to help users chat and swap crypto without worrying about private data leaks. To achieve such a mission, Ready uses a “personal identification code”, which is later “linguified” into a set of 3 – 4 English words combined together, to identify a user.

The default chat name consists of 3 – 4 English words combined together.

For example, instead of a numerical code like “123456”, a linguified code might be something like “dog-run-fast”. This code is still unique and identifies the user, but it is easier for the user to remember and share with others. In addition, having a linguified code unique to each user makes it more difficult for a third party to determine the identity of a user based on the code alone.

Such a code is set as the default chat name of Ready users, which couldn’t be changed until the latest update.

  • Current customizable display name

The current display name is basically the editable version of the aforementioned default chat name. Our updates allow you to edit this name to show a friendlier (or quirkier, it’s all up to you) side of yourself to others. Display names don’t need to be unique.

However, you can just go with the three-random-word default chat name set by Ready if you don’t want to bother with picking a display name.

You can edit the display name in the Edit Profile section.

You can also pick a default chat name.

Unique Username

Usernames are the names that other users can use to quickly search or mention your account in a conversation. They are set to have 5 – 32 characters without spaces and special characters. Remember the usernames that you used to set while playing some random games? The usernames in Ready work exactly the same way – they are unique, short, and easy to remember – you can always find someone using their username.

Former Ready users (before the update) will be assigned a random username, but you can easily change it in the Account Settings section if you want.

You can set your username right when registering an account in Ready.

If you’re new to Ready, you can set up your display name and username right at the start. Feel free to change these details anytime later.

Nickname (coming soon)

In Ready, nicknames are a unique feature that allows you to set a personalized name for the other person in your conversation. These nicknames are visible only to you and offer a convenient way to keep track of multiple conversations with the same person or simply give your friends and family unique names. Whether you want to use nicknames for practical or fun purposes, Ready makes it easy to do so.

Final thoughts

In short, Ready offers three types of names – display names, usernames, and nicknames – to enhance user experience and foster more meaningful connections. Give Ready a try and see how these features can elevate your messaging experience.
